Every new student completes a short placement assessment so we can match them to the right course level from their very first session.

Beginner

Building the Foundation

Designed for learners with little or no English experience. The focus is on the most essential grammar structures, core everyday vocabulary, basic reading and listening, and developing the confidence to speak simple English clearly.

We offer dedicated Comprehensive Course tracks for younger learners using age-appropriate materials, games, interactive activities, and a warm, encouraging classroom atmosphere. Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced levels are all available for children and teens.

Course Structure

How a Comprehensive Course Runs

Every Comprehensive Course follows a clear structure from day one — placement, planning, teaching, practising, reviewing, and progressing. Learners always know where they are in their journey and what comes next.

Courses are designed for flexibility — students can attend two, three, or more sessions per week depending on their goals and availability. Take-home tasks reinforce classroom learning between sessions.

Day 1

Placement Assessment

A short spoken and written assessment — typically 20 to 30 minutes — identifies the student's current level across all four skills so we can place them accurately and build the right plan.

Week 1

Personalised Course Plan

Based on the placement, a detailed course plan is shared with the student — outlining the modules to be covered, the expected pace, milestones, and specific targets for each skill area.

Ongoing

Taught Modules & Skill Practice

Regular sessions combine instruction in all six pillars — reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, vocabulary — with in-class practice tasks and take-home exercises to consolidate each lesson.

Every 4–6 weeks

Milestone Review & Feedback

A structured review session assesses progress across all skills. The teacher shares a written progress report and discusses strengths, areas for improvement, and any adjustments to the course plan.

On completion

Level Advancement or Graduation

Once all modules for a level are completed and mastered, students either advance to the next course level or — for those who have met their goals — conclude with a final assessment and completion recognition from Move Up Academy.

How long does a Comprehensive Course take to complete?

It depends on the student's starting level, goals, and how frequently they attend. Attending two to three sessions per week, most students complete a level in three to five months. Students with more intensive schedules may progress faster. There is no fixed end date — the course runs until the student has genuinely mastered the level.

Can I study online or do I have to come to Cebu?

Both options are available. Comprehensive Courses can be taken fully online via live video sessions from anywhere in the world, or in person at our Cebu campus. The curriculum, materials, and teacher quality are the same across both formats.

Is this suitable for children and teenagers?

Yes. We offer a dedicated Young Learners track within Comprehensive Courses, using age-appropriate texts, materials, and teaching methods. Sessions for children are designed to be engaging and enjoyable — using stories, games, and creative activities — while still following the same structured curriculum.

Can I focus more on one skill if I need to?

While Comprehensive Courses are designed to develop all skills together, your teacher will always adapt the balance based on your most pressing needs. For example, a student preparing for an exam may spend additional time on writing and reading, while someone preparing for an interview may emphasise speaking. The plan is always personalised.

Do I need to buy textbooks or additional materials?

No. All course materials — reading texts, listening audio, grammar worksheets, writing tasks, and vocabulary exercises — are provided by your teacher as part of your enrolment. You will not need to purchase a textbook. Your teacher curates materials specifically for your level and learning goals.

Can I combine this with another Move Up program?

Yes — and many students do. A popular combination is Comprehensive Courses for structured skill development plus additional Speaking and Listening sessions for extra conversation practice.
